NEVER THOUGHT OF WHOLE GRAINS?
Eating grains? Good. Eating whole grains? Great. Because whole grains in the diet means lower risk of heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers and other health problems. Dietary guidelines across the world talk about the efficacy of whole grains. Some guidelines even recommend at least half of all the grains we eat ought to be whole grains. Eating grains is not enough. Whole grains help and if they are organic then even better.
What are whole grains? A simple description: unrefined grains that haven’t had their bran and germ removed by milling. What does this mean to our diets? More fiber and other important nutrients, such as selenium, potassium and magnesium. Single foods or as ingredients, whole grains have their role. Brown rice is a single food and the whole wheat in bread or a breakfast cereal is an ingredient.
Think about it. Whole grains have a whole different way of helping us in our health.
