  • 1 tbsp oats flour
  • 1 tbsp barley flour
  • 2 tbsp wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp chopped methi leaves
  • Pinch of turmeric, salt, chili powder, cumin powder, and sesame seeds
  • 4-5 tbsp curd
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tsp oil (1 tsp in mix and 1 while cooking)


thepla recipe – How to make:

  • Mix all the ingredients in a bowl and knead into dough. No need to add water as methi leaves release water.
  • Knead the dough very well and, if required, add more curd to make the dough smooth and mushy.
  • Make medium sized balls from the dough.
  • Take a ball and sprinkle some flour on it.
  • Using the rolling pin, roll the thepla to a round of about 5-6 inches in diameter.
  • On a hot Tawa, place the thepla.
  • Flip when one side is partly cooked and spread oil on this side.
  • Flip the other side and spread the oil. Flip a couple of times until the thepla bubbles up with golden brown spots. In between, you can press the thepla with a spatula, and once done, transfer the thepla to a serving plate.

Thepla is made using various flours or any multigrain flour mixed with fenugreek leaves, salt, and other common spices. With a great source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber, this thepla recipe is low in calories.
