Have you heard anything about coriander rice recipe before now? If you are someone who enjoys cooking unique and flavoursome dishes for your family, here is an exciting coriander rice recipe which you can prepare with some basic kitchen ingredients.

When prepared with organic ingredients, coriander rice turns out to be an aromatic and spicy dish made with rice, vegetables and coriander along with some spices. The preparation gains a denser flavour due to the use of organic ingredients, which are safer for your health and for the environment as well.

You will need up to 30 minutes of time to make preparations for this meal and up to 15 minutes to cook them. Here is a list of ingredients needed to make the coriander rice recipe.

Basmati rice

1 cup, rinsed and soaked in water for 30 minutes

Cooking oil

2 tbsp.

Indian bay leaf

1/3 cup, thinly sliced

1 medium, peeled and chopped

Green peas

Coriander leaves

½ cup, chopped

Green chillies

2 – 3, chopped

Ginger

½ inch piece, chopped

Coconut

2 tbsp., grated

Garlic

3 – 4 cloves, chopped

Cumin seeds

½ tbsp.

Fennel Seeds

½ tbsp.

 

How to make coriander rice recipe? 

  1. Rinse and soak rice in water for at least 30 minutes and then drain the water, keeping the rice aside.
  2. To make a coriander paste, collect coriander leaves, green chillies, ginger, coconut gratings, garlic, cumin seeds and fennel seeds in a grinder. Grind them together to form a paste. If needed, add up to 2 to 3 tbsp. water in the grinder to give a smoother consistency to the paste.
  3. Next, in a pressure cooker, heat 2 tbsp. of oil and add whole spices like clove, black peppercorns, cinnamon, cardamom, and mace. For a few seconds, sauté them on medium flame till you get a whiff of their fragrance.
  4. To these spices, add the sliced onions, and sauté them till they turn golden brown.
  5. Once done, add the coriander paste prepared above to this spice mix. Also, add turmeric powder at this stage. Mix them well.
  6. Add the chopped potato, and green peas, if desired. Depending on your taste, you may add other vegetables as well or skip them altogether. Stir the ingredients well to mix them together.
  7. Once done, add the drained rice and sauté them well.
  8. To the pressure cooker, add up to 1.5 cups of water with salt and cover the vessel for up to 10 minutes on a medium flame. Open the cooker when the pressure subsides and fluff the rice gently to reveal rice prepared with coriander rice recipe.

You may choose to cook the coriander rice recipe in a pan instead of a pressure cooker. To serve, combine the rice with curd or a pickle and let your family enjoy the zest of organic ingredients.
