  • 1 cup 100% organic brown rice flakes
  • 2 green chillies, chopped
  • Pinch of Asafoetida
  • 2 tbsp of Oil
  • 2 tbsp of Peanuts
  • ¼ tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp of finely chopped Coriander leaves
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp scraped dry Coconut for garnishing
  • ¼ tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp Sugar (optional)
  • 2-3 tbsp of pomegranate seeds for garnishing
  • 2 Onions, finely chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 sprig of Curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp fresh Lemon juice

  1. Soak the brown rice flakes in water along with a pinch of salt for about a minute. Drain and again soak the flakes in one cup of clean water for roughly 10 minutes.
  2. Once the flakes have soaked up all the water, they will become soft. Sprinkle some salt and sugar on the soaked flakes and blend well.
  3. Heat oil in a wok and add mustard seeds. When they splutter, add some cumin seeds followed by the curry leaves and the green chillies.
  4. Add some peanuts and fry them for a few minutes.
  5. Add onions followed by asafoetida and turmeric powder. Keep frying the onions until they become translucent.
  6. Add the soaked and seasoned flakes and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes and ensure that everything gets mixed properly.
  7. Cover the wok and leave the poha to get cooked on steam for another minute on a moderate flame.
  8. Turn off the flame, and squeeze some lemon juice all over the poha.
  9. Stir well and garnish using coriander leaves, scraped coconut as-well-as pomegranate seeds.
