Jowar vada recipe
This type of vada, unlike the medu vada or dal vada, is cooked in the kuzhi paniyaram pan instead of being deep-fried. This requires lesser oil and is thus a healthier option.
Mix one cup of jowar flour, half cup of besan, an inch of chopped ginger, four cloves of chopped garlic, three teaspoons of sesame seeds, one tsp of red chilli powder, half tsp of turmeric powder and salt to taste. To this mixture, add a half cup of water and mix well
Heat up the pan and add a few drops of oil in each segment. Using a spoon, add small amounts of batter to each part and steam the vadas
After a few minutes, you can flip the vada and close the pan again to let it get steamed completely
To check if the vadas are fully cooked, use a fork to pierce the centre and see that it comes out clean
